Boris Vitázek (SK) – Just you wait!
It has been 57 years since the Warsaw Pact forces invaded Czechoslovakia. After 21 years of occupation, Slovakia regained its freedom through the Velvet Revolution. Well, just you wait!—the threats of occupation and conflict can return at any moment. The cycle of tension and aggression, reminiscent of the endless chase in the Soviet animated series Well, Just You Wait!, is repeating itself today in the form of the war in Ukraine, closer to us than at any time in the past 35 years.
This installation uses LED animations and laser projections to create a dynamic sense of visual tension. Figures and symbols collide in an endless battle, mirroring both reality and our collective memories and fears.
Boris Vitázek is a new media artist. He creates intimate installations for a single viewer as well as large-scale mappings that shift the perception of public space. In his work, he combines visuals and sound to create an immersive atmosphere. He explores themes of privacy, social networks, religion, and science. Sometimes, he focuses solely on the interaction between sound and visuals with the audience. He is also active in theater, where he designs stage sets and helps actors develop their ability to work with visuals and sound on stage.
