Mierové Square in a Different Light

Mierové Square in a Different Light

November days and longer evenings are the perfect time to experience light in a new way. From November 15 to 24, a large-scale light installation will quite literally show Mierové Square in a different light. Don’t miss it.

The light installation for Trenčín was created by Czech artist Lukáš Dřevjaný, also known as oxoo, who works with screens, moving lights, and lasers. For him, light is a medium for creating powerful, immersive experiences.

And Trenčín will be no exception. His eight-meter-tall installation will be the first of its kind and size in the city. It will also be interactive, meaning that what appears on the installation will be directly influenced by the movement of visitors.

Skúška svetiel (Test of Lights) begins on Friday, November 15 at 7:30 PM. On the following days, the installation can be experienced daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, until Sunday, November 24. After that, it will make way for the traditional Christmas tree.

Skúška svetiel is a preview of the Light Art Festival Trenčín (LAF), part of the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026 programme and organized by the Trenčín-based civic association TRAKT.

The first full edition of Light Art Festival Trenčín will take place in April 2025.
